A tourniquet goes high and tight over clothing when the bleeding source can't be seen or there's no time (hasty), or on bare skin 2–3 in. above the wound once it is exposed (deliberate) — never across a joint. Because the NANO is small enough to bury in a pocket, decide its carry position deliberately and keep it consistent — a kit whose location has to be remembered under stress is a kit that gets found late.
