This listing is the bag and nothing else. No tourniquet, no hemostatic, no airway adjunct, no consumable of any kind is included, and no CoTCCC recommendation applies to any part of it — recommendation status attaches to named medical devices, and this product contains none. Whether the loaded bag ends up holding recommended devices depends entirely on the loadout the buyer builds. Two practical notes. NAR does not publish an unloaded weight for this bag and its own FAQ refers the question back to the current specification sheet, so a unit working to a carry-weight limit needs that figure before ordering. And the pouch allocation is a design assumption, not a constraint: four smaller pouches are sized for hemorrhage products and two larger for airway and IV, which suits the SAR Level A loading but may not suit a different protocol — check the intended loadout against the pouch sizes rather than the labels. Label the pouches with waterproof markers and laminated labels before the bag goes to sea, and use the anti-pilferage seals; a detachable pouch is only fast if the person grabbing it knows what is in it.

Who Carries It

Navy SAR swimmers, as the platform the Level A standard is written around · Maritime special operations, where near-IR-reduced hardware matters as much as the medicine · Squadron and unit medical officers building a loadout to their own protocol rather than buying a fixed contents set · Dive and water-rescue teams needing sustained saltwater durability · Programmes replacing a worn bag on an existing kit without repurchasing the contents.

Why the construction is not marketing: solution-dyed 500D CORDURA® holds colour and resists abrasion through sustained saltwater exposure, where a piece-dyed fabric fades and weakens; self-repairing zippers survive sand that would jam a standard coil; and a detachable, labelled pouch means the responder carries the hemorrhage pouch to the casualty instead of the whole bag. Berry Amendment compliance is a procurement fact, not a performance claim — it means U.S.-manufactured materials throughout, which some purchasing programmes require.

CLINICAL RATIONALE

🚑 Clinical Rationale: NAR-5 Search & Rescue Bag

The NAR-5 Search & Rescue Bag is purpose-built for advanced field care during mass-casualty or remote operations.
Its configuration reflects both tactical casualty care principles and civilian disaster medicine priorities—rapid triage, organized treatment flow, and sustained care capability during extended rescues.

1. Mission-Oriented Design

Unlike basic trauma packs, the NAR-5 is engineered for multi-casualty deployment.
The internal modular layout divides supplies into airway, circulation, and wound-management zones, mirroring MARCH algorithm sequencing (Massive hemorrhage, Airway, Respiration, Circulation, Hypothermia).
This structure enables rescuers to locate critical tools instinctively under stress, reducing time to intervention.

  • Layout follows MARCH trauma sequence for efficient workflow
  • Color-coded and labeled modules support team coordination
  • Expands operational capability beyond single-patient care

2. Comprehensive Hemorrhage Management

The bag accommodates multiple tourniquets, hemostatic dressings, and pressure bandages to treat several casualties simultaneously.
Each component addresses rapid control of external bleeding, the leading preventable cause of trauma death.
This design supports sustained field care in incidents where evacuation is delayed or patient load exceeds available medics.

  • Enables simultaneous management of multiple extremity bleeds
  • Integrates CoTCCC-recommended hemostatic technologies
  • Supports tiered response (combat medic, SAR technician, EMT)

3. Airway and Breathing Support Modules

The NAR-5’s upper compartments house airway adjuncts, bag-valve masks, and chest seals to ensure ventilatory management in both blunt and penetrating trauma.
The separated storage prevents cross-contamination and provides immediate visibility of essential airway equipment under low-light conditions.

  • Dedicated airway compartment reduces search time
  • Prevents equipment overlap with blee
