Rescue Task Force Chest Pouch
A fully stocked, vest-front trauma platform for the warm zone — dual tourniquets, four chest seals, and airway adjuncts staged for simultaneous casualties.
500D CORDURA Near-IR signature reduction Tethered trauma shears Black / Coyote / Red

Rescue Task Force medics work the warm zone — the space between the law-enforcement element and staged EMS, where casualties are often multiple and simultaneous and the threat has not been fully cleared. Gear has to ride on the front of the armor, open one-handed, and resupply fast. The NAR Rescue Task Force Chest Pouch is built for exactly that fight: designed for the MKIII RTF Tactical Responder ballistic vest but compatible with any MOLLE/PALS chest platform.

When the casualty count is two and the clock is the threat, does your kit carry doubles — or just one of everything?

The dual-tourniquet, four-seal configuration reflects the statistical reality RTF medics face in active-shooter and mass-casualty response: bilateral extremity wounds and multiple penetrating thoracic casualties. Two HyFin Vent Chest Seal twin packs supply four seals — entry and exit coverage for two patients. The whole load is staged for treatment on the move, not a leisurely sort-through at a clean aid station.

Provider scope: This pouch includes nasopharyngeal airways (28F) intended for use by providers trained and credentialed in basic airway management. Airway adjuncts should be carried and used within your scope of practice and local protocol. This listing describes the kit’s contents and configuration; it is not a substitute for accredited tactical-casualty-care training.

Why This Pouch

Two-Casualty Load

2× C-A-T tourniquets, 2× ETD 6 in., 2× wound packing gauze, and four HyFin Vent seals — enough to treat two simultaneous casualties without rationing.

Tethered, Exterior Shears

A 7.25 in. trauma shear rides outside the pouch on a Scissor Leash — cut clothing off a casualty without opening the pouch or losing the tool under fire.

Low-Observable Build

500D CORDURA solution-dyed nylon with Near Infrared Signature Reduction supports covert and low-light operations alongside the ballistic platform.

CoTCCC-Recommended Core

Contents include the CoTCCC-recommended C-A-T tourniquet and HyFin Vent Chest Seal — point-of-injury tools, carried on the chest where the medic can reach them.

When to Deploy the Rescue Task Force Chest Pouch

  • Warm-zone RTF medical integration: Fire/EMS responders entering a warm zone alongside LE wear the RTF Chest Pouch on the front of their ballistic vest — putting trauma supplies exactly where they need them.
  • Front-of-armor TCCC/TECC kit staging: Stocked with the Rapid Response Kit RTF or individual TECC supplies, the chest pouch gives immediate kit access without removing the vest or reaching to a belt kit.
  • Mass casualty incident (MCI) rapid-deployment kit: Responding RTF medics arrive with their kit on-body from the moment they don their vest — no separate bag to manage in a warm zone with hands that need to be free.
  • Training and exercises: RTF exercises standardize on the chest pouch as the kit carrier for consistent placement and access training across agencies and mutual aid partners.
  • Wildland fire medical operations: Firefighters integrating with medical operations in remote settings use the chest pouch as an accessible trauma kit that does not interfere with PPE.
Best practice: Configure the RTF Chest Pouch for your dominant-hand access pattern and drill kit deployment with your specific vest setup. Under-armor fit affects draw speed — train with your full kit configuration.

How the RTF Chest Pouch Compares

RTF Chest Pouch vs. belt-mounted IFAK pouches: Belt IFAKs are standard for military and LE; the chest pouch is optimized for Fire/EMS responders wearing ballistic vests as their primary platform. The chest mount is accessible while prone and when seated in a vehicle — positions where belt access is impeded.

RTF Chest Pouch vs. full medical bags: A full medical bag is appropriate when the scene is controlled and you have both hands free. In a warm zone, a bag becomes a liability. The chest pouch keeps the same critical kit on your body without the bag management burden.

RTF Chest Pouch vs. Responder Ballistic PPE Vest IIIA (combined system): The chest pouch and the Responder Vest are designed as a system — the vest provides ballistic protection; the chest pouch provides medical capability on the front panel. Together they create the complete RTF platform.

RTF Chest Pouch vs. commercial MOLLE chest rigs: Commercial tactical chest rigs are not designed around Fire/EMS TECC kit organization. The RTF Chest Pouch is purpose-configured for the medical items RTF responders need most. See all RTF equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the RTF Chest Pouch come with medical supplies or is it a pouch only?

A: The Rescue Task Force Chest Pouch is a carrier system. Medical supplies are carried separately or as part of the Rapid Response Kit RTF Version. Check the specific product listing to confirm whether a kit-stocked version is available or whether supplies need to be purchased separately.

Q: Is the RTF Chest Pouch compatible with the NAR Responder Ballistic PPE Vest?

A: Yes. The RTF Chest Pouch is designed to integrate with the NAR Responder Ballistic PPE Vest IIIA as a system. Verify MOLLE/PALS row compatibility and panel dimensions match your specific vest size before mounting.

Q: What medical items fit in the RTF Chest Pouch?

A: The RTF Chest Pouch is sized to accommodate the RRK RTF contents: tourniquet, hemostatic dressing, chest seal, pressure dressing, and gloves at minimum. Refer to the product listing for exact interior dimensions and compartment configuration.

Q: What is the NSN for the Rescue Task Force Chest Pouch?

A: Contact MED-TAC International for current NSN availability, government pricing, and procurement vehicle options. The RTF Chest Pouch may be procured for Fire/EMS agencies through cooperative purchasing contracts.

Q: Can the RTF Chest Pouch be used on non-NAR ballistic vests?

A: The RTF Chest Pouch uses MOLLE/PALS webbing for attachment and is compatible with any vest panel that accepts standard MOLLE mounting. Verify that your vest's front panel MOLLE row count and spacing accommodate the pouch's attachment width.
