Can a beginner use this kit safely?

Yes. The GO2FAS™ layout is intuitive and includes a quick-use card. We still recommend formal training such as Stop the Bleed® and basic first aid to build skill confidence.

Why are there two tourniquets?

Redundancy matters. A second tourniquet may be needed for large limbs, multi-limb injuries, or when the first application does not fully stop arterial bleeding.

Do I need hemostatic gauze if I already have regular gauze?

Hemostatic gauze accelerates clotting when tightly packed into a wound cavity. Regular compressed gauze is included as backup and for pressure reinforcement.

What should I do for chest gunshot wounds?

Clean/dry the skin as best as possible and apply the vented chest seal over the wound (entrance and exit if present). Continue monitoring breathing and seal adherence.

Is this kit “approved” by any committee?

Kits aren’t certified as a whole. Key components (e.g., C-A-T® Gen7 tourniquet) are recommended by the Committee on TCCC (CoTCCC). Avoid claims like “TCCC approved/certified.”

Any special storage or maintenance tips?

Keep the kit dry, accessible, and temperature-stable. Inspect seals, dates, and packaging quarterly; replace used or expired items promptly.

• Wound packing with hemostatic gauze plus firm direct pressure supports faster, reliable clot formation in deep and junctional wounds.
• Vented chest seals are recommended for suspected open chest wounds to help reduce air trapping while protecting the wound surface.
• Early thermal management (blanket) combats trauma-induced hypothermia, which worsens coagulopathy and bleeding.

Training rationale: Kit layout follows the MARCH sequence—Massive bleeding → Airway → Respiration → Circulation → Hypothermia—so users can work front-to-back under stress or low light with minimal decision friction.
