The Slishman Pressure Wrap (SPW) is an ultralight elastic hemorrhage-control wrap with a red slip-sleeve cinch that forms a lasso for one-motion application, and hook-and-loop tabs that lock every turn so it can’t unwind mid-use. At 1 oz and 4 × 1.6 × 1″, it conforms to any limb — adult, child, or K9 — and disappears into any kit.

A standard elastic wrap slips, unravels, and loosens the moment a patient moves — and there’s a real gap between a basic stretch wrap and a windlass tourniquet for the many bleeds that need firm pressure but not full arterial occlusion.

Between a loose Ace wrap and a full tourniquet, what holds firm pressure on a limb and stays put?

The SPW fills that gap. Scope note. The Slishman Pressure Wrap is a pressure / compression wrap, not a CoTCCC-recommended limb tourniquet. For definitive control of arterial limb hemorrhage, a windlass tourniquet such as the C-A-T® Gen 7 or SOF-T® remains the primary device. Use the SPW for pressure dressings, compression, and as an adjustable adjunct.

The Slishman Pressure Wrap can achieve arterial occlusion sufficient to eliminate a distal pulse when applied tightly with correct technique — demonstrated in video by Dr. Slishman himself on adult arms and legs. However, it is not CoTCCC-recommended as a primary combat tourniquet and should not replace a dedicated windlass tourniquet (such as the C-A-T Gen 7 or SAM XT) in kits where extremity arterial hemorrhage is the primary threat. The SPW's greatest value is as a multi-purpose tool: a pressure dressing, compression bandage, or splint-securement device for the wide range of bleeding injuries that do not require tourniquet-level intervention, while remaining capable of tourniquet function when needed.

What is the red slip sleeve on the Slishman Pressure Wrap and how does it work?

The red slip sleeve is a fabric ring that slides freely along the full length of the elastic wrap.
