Gauze Pads 4" x 4"
The 4 x 4 sterile gauze pad, in the box quantity a working kit actually consumes: 25 twin-pack peel-down pouches, 50 pads in total. Eight-ply, 100% cotton, latex-free. This is the consumable that sits under every dressing, wrap and splint you apply — bought by the box, not by the piece.
4 in. x 4 in.8-ply, 100% cotton50 pads (25 twin packs)Sterile · latex-free

Eight-ply, not four. That is roughly double the absorbent capacity of the thin pads that come bundled in cheap kits — the difference between a pad that soaks and a pad that smears.

VIEW ▾25 Pack (50 Pads) — one box
  • 25x Sterile peel-down pouch, 2 pads per pouch — 50 pads in total per box
  • Each pad: 4 in. x 4 in. (10.2 cm x 10.2 cm), 8-ply, 100% cotton
  • Foil peel-down pouch presents the pads without hands contacting the pad surface
  • Latex-free. Box weight approximately 0.5 lb.
VIEW ▾What This Is Not — read before ordering
  • Not a hemostatic dressing. There is no clotting agent on these pads — they are plain cotton gauze.
  • Not packing gauze. A deep or cavitary wound is packed with a continuous roll or Z-fold gauze; flat pads are not the tool for that.
  • Not a pressure dressing. There is no elastic wrap, no pressure bar and no closure — these are the absorbent layer that goes under one.
  • Not an occlusive dressing or a chest seal.
  • Not individually wrapped one to a pouch. Each pouch holds two pads; opening a pouch commits both.

Specifications are as published by Dynarex. Sterility applies to the individual pouch and ends when that pouch is opened; the manufacturer does not publish a shelf-life figure on this page, so check the lot date printed on the box before staging pads in a kit. Plain gauze is the substrate layer, not the intervention — a wound that needs packing, hemostatic gauze or a tourniquet needs those, and which one applies is a clinical judgement made under local protocol.

Who Carries It

Every kit builder — IFAKs, trauma bags, vehicle kits, jobsite stations and clinic rooms all consume 4 x 4s faster than anything else in the bag - EMS and fire services restocking by the box - Training programmes running skills days where a dozen simulated wounds are dressed - Clinics, athletic training rooms and occupational health handling routine wound care.

Gauze is a supply item, not a capability. Recognising a wound that needs more than a dressing — packing, a hemostatic agent, a pressure dressing or a tourniquet — is a trained skill exercised within scope of practice and under local protocol. This page describes the pads and states exactly what ships.
