MARCH Battle Wrap

A clear, self-adhering elastic compression wrap that goes over a dressing, a hemostatic agent or a wound pack to hold and build pressure. It bonds to itself and to skin without clips, bars or hook-and-loop, and Combat Medical Systems publishes tested values for it — 5,000 psi tensile strength and 550% elongation at break. Six feet of it weighs 2.5 oz. It is a compression layer, not a dressing: There is no wound pad.

Is the MARCH Battle Wrap the same as the MARCH Battle Bandage?

No. The MARCH Battle Wrap (SKU 02-001) is a 6-foot elastic compression wrap only — it does not include an integrated wound pad. It is an adjunct designed to be applied over an existing dressing to amplify compression. The MARCH Battle Bandage (SKU 32-700-070) is a complete dressing system that includes both the transparent self-adhesive wrap AND an integrated 8×8 in. sterile cotton gauze pad. Use the Battle Wrap when you already have a dressing applied and need additional compression; use the Battle Bandage as a primary all-in-one dressing.

What does 5,000 psi tensile strength mean for a compression wrap?

Tensile strength measures the force the material can withstand before tearing or breaking. At 5,000 psi, the MARCH Battle Wrap is significantly stronger than standard elastic cohesive bandages and does not delaminate, shred, or tear under the mechanical loads applied during emergency bandaging, patient movement, and transport. This is important for maintaining sustained pressure throughout a potentially long evacuation period. The 550% elongation at break means the material stretches to 5.5 times its original length before tearing — providing substantial elastic reserve for tight wrapping passes.

Can the MARCH Battle Wrap be used with hemostatic dressings?

Yes — this is one of the primary use cases. Apply the hemostatic dressing (QuikClot Combat Gauze, ChitoGauze, Celox Gauze, or equivalent) to the wound with direct pressure for the required contact time, then use the MARCH Battle Wrap over the hemostatic dressing to maintain continuous, firm circumferential compression. The transparent wrap allows visual assessment of bleed-through from the hemostatic layer, providing a simple monitoring method during the compression phase and transport. The self-adhesive design ensures the wrap stays in place without slipping.

Does the MARCH Battle Wrap leave adhesive residue on skin?

No. The MARCH Battle Wrap uses a medical-grade adhesive formulated to be non-irritating and to leave no residue on skin upon removal. This makes dressing changes cleaner and reduces trauma to the wound site when the outer wrap is removed at a higher care facility. The absence of adhesive residue also means less discomfort for the patient during dressing removal after extended wear times.

Can the MARCH Battle Wrap be used as a sling or splint wrap?

Yes. The 6-foot length and strong elastic properties of the MARCH Battle Wrap make it suitable for splint securing — wrap the splint and injured extremity to immobilize a fracture, using the self-adhesive property to hold each pass in place. As a sling component, the wrap can be used to secure an arm sling against the torso. However, because it is self-adhering and not a traditional triangular bandage, a dedicated triangular bandage or cravat is a better primary choice for standard sling application. The Battle Wrap excels as a compression and securing wrap rather than a structural support element.
